Holbrook Updates

Hi Everyone,

I thought I would give a little update.  We don't have new cute pictures of our baby to post, but we thought it was about time to put something up.

Then again we do have cute pictures of Leslie's baby bump!!

 We are super excited to have a baby soon.  Our little girl is due on August 23rd!  Leslie is doing a good job at being pregnant. 

We recently bought a new pet.  One that we figured the property management company would be okay with.  We named him Po. It turns out that our fish is really into watching general conference.  Who knew?

Leslie and I haven't done much together in a while since I've been working many long hours and a lot of Saturdays for the past few months.  Busy season for accountants can be tough, but I made it. 

Yesterday we were invited to go with a some other couples in the ward to  visit the Santa Monica beach.  We've been there before, but it was fun to go with friends.  It's the first time we've gone out to do something with friends in a very long time. With moving so much it's tough to make friends.

Baby Holbrook

Yesterday, I had my first ultrasound. Yes, it was a bit late. Long story.

It was very exciting, though! I got to see our baby! And he actually LOOKS like a baby! You can't see it that well, but there's a head, and an arm, and a belly. I actually feel pregnant now. Seeing him brought it to reality. And I'm very excited!!

What a miraculous thing! I have a living being growing inside of me! With a heartbeat and everything. I think I've even been feeling him move. Just little almost indiscernible bumps in my abdomen, but unlike anything else I felt there before.

And before you know it, this living being inside of me is going to be an adorable, tiny baby ... outside of me! I feel very blessed to be a woman!

PS: Official due date -- August 23!

I Love My Grandpa

Grampa Bowen passed away on February 29, in the evening. A month prior to his passing, he broke his hip, and he wasn't able to recover. We will miss him. He was a great adventure for Daniel and myself these past several months, and he was always a good grandfather to me.

Besides, he was about the cutest 95-year-old man ever!!

Big News...

HAVE A BABY!!!

We know this is the big news everyone has been waiting for (well, at least our families), and so here it is! I am about 2 and 1/2 months along, which means I'll probably be due at the end of August (this is our guess), and we've known since halfway through December. We just recently decided to tell everyone the happy news. We're very excited!

A Crazy and Exciting Week

Well, some things have happened this week, new things.

First of all, while I was watching my Grampa this week, he fell and broke his hip ... for the 3rd time. It was quite frightening to be there when it happened. But the next day, my uncles took him in to the hospital, and on Friday he had hip-replacement surgery. Daniel and I went to see him yesterday (we sneaked in some ice cream for him), and he was quite out of it with all the drugs, but he seemed fine, and all the nurses said that he's been okay. He'll be in the recovery home for the next couple of months, once he gets out of the hospital, and we're all hoping he makes it through another hip break.

Secondly, I got my Christmas present this week, and I'm very excited about it:

That's right, a spin bike! I love spinning, and I'm hoping that this will kick my lazy bum into gear ... and shape! We got it only yesterday, so I haven't really had a workout on it yet. But come tomorrow ... LOOK OUT!

Third, we got the scores for Daniel's last exam, and he passed. Not a big surprise there, he's passed all of them with flying colors. But it's still good to KNOW that we're finally done with that phase. He's very busy now with work, tax season and all, but he works hard and I'm really proud of him.

Hail the Conquering Hero!

On Thursday of this week, Daniel took the 4th and final CPA examination. We don't, of course, know how he did. But that didn't mean we couldn't celebrate!!!

To begin with, I picked him up, with a wrapped gift waiting on his seat: Monopoly. He's wanted the game for a while.

Then, when we got home, we toasted him being done with tests and studying (with Martinelli's, of course), and ate his celebration cake:

Daniel is not a huge fan of cakes or baked treats; so instead I made him a fruit salad, with all sorts of delicious and exotic fruits that we don't normally buy because they are expensive. Totally worth it.

Then, I frosted it with vanilla frosting ... not easy, let me tell you; and wrote a congratulations message.

We finished this delightful evening by going to dinner at a Greek Restaurant that was very good, and fun. It was nice to have a study-free night ... for both of us!
